Virtual University Issues Revised Midterm Exam Notification

Virtual University has issued a revised notification for the Fall 2025 Mid-Semester exams. The new pattern features a 30-mark paper consisting of 14 MCQs and 4 subjective questions to be completed in 50 minutes. Students must check their VULMS for course-specific updates and ensure they have their entrance slips ready for the exams starting December 8.

The Virtual University of Pakistan (VU) has released an important revised notification regarding the Fall 2025 Mid-Semester Examinations. This announcement provides a clear update on the paper pattern, exam schedule, and special provisions for specific student groups to ensure a smooth examination process.

New Midterm Paper Pattern (Undergraduate)

To maintain a high standard of assessment, the university has standardized the paper structure for most undergraduate courses. Unless a specific course announcement on VULMS states otherwise, the following pattern applies:

Total Marks: 30 Marks
Total Duration: 50 Minutes
Question Structure:
- Objective: 14 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) — 1 mark each.
- Short Questions: 2 Questions — 3 marks each.
- Long Questions: 2 Questions — 5 marks each.
Note: All questions are mandatory. There is no choice between questions in this new format.

Special Opportunity for Lateral Entry Students

A significant part of this revised notification is for students admitted through the Lateral Entry Process in Fall 2025.

Students who missed the initial date sheet schedule due to late enrollment are being given a special provision to appear in the Mid-Semester Exams.
The exams for these eligible students will be scheduled during the last week of December 2025.
Action Required: Eligible students must submit their consent via email to datesheet@vu.edu.pk immediately to confirm their participation.

Key Exam Instructions

Exam Centers: All local students must appear at their designated VU exam centers as selected in their date sheet.
Entrance Slips: Students must carry a printed copy of their Exam Entrance Slip and their original student ID card. Entry will not be allowed without these documents.
Rescheduling: If a student misses a paper, the “Reschedule” option becomes available on VULMS 24 hours after the paper time (prescribed fees apply).
